Teacher Writing a Formula on a Blackboar
TEACHING (PEDAGOGY)

Understanding the student is the most important aspect of my teaching philosophy.

This allows me to tailor my pedagogy according to their learning style, musical preferences, current level, and to their gaps in their knowledge, skills and techniques. It also allows us to work towards musical goals that are of significance to the student, not merely a pass in an exam.

All this can then be channelled into exploring all kinds of music, developing discipline and good practice habits, developing musical expression and appreciation, and nurturing a life-long love for music making.

Therefore, I enjoy taking things carefully and without rushing, to ensure students fully grasp the skills and techniques appropriate for their level, all the while enjoying the process as much as possible, rather than racing through the grades.
